Waterford Preservation Trust Concludes Mission

Through the vision of the Waterford Preservation Trust, the historic Waterford Congregational Church changes hands and community-focused assets now benefit the town’s Davies Memorial Library.

Waterford Preservation Trust (WPT) is pleased to announce a significant organizational transition that marks the next step of the organization’s commitment to serving the community. Following the 2022 transfer of ownership of the Waterford Congregational Church building in Lower Waterford, the WPT board last autumn convened to determine the organization’s next steps. In accordance with bylaws, the board voted to dissolve WPT and donate all remaining assets to The Davies Memorial Library.

“The Davies Library was chosen as the recipient of our assets due to its not-for-profit status, proximity to the church, and its dedication to serving the entire Waterford community. The board believes this donation will further support the Davies Memorial Library’s inclusive programs and benefit local residents for years to come,” the Waterford Preservation Trust Board of Trustees said in a statement.

"We're grateful for the vision and hard work of the Waterford Preservation Trust in raising money to help fund restoration projects at the Waterford Congregational Church and for now donating remaining funds to the important work of renovating the Children's Room at the Davies Memorial Library. The WPT’s work supported the Waterford community in many ways!" said Kandis Barrett of The Davies Memorial Library.  

With the church building now under new ownership, WPT extends its best wishes to and all who will carry forward the building’s legacy. “We are confident that the future holds great promise for all involved,” said the Board members.

Finally, the WPT board expresses heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported the grassroots organization throughout the years. The generosity, involvement, and encouragement were instrumental to the organization’s mission and impact.
